A gas appliance should be serviced every 12 months to ensure it is running as to manufacturer instructions. We check the safety devices are working correctly and that working gas pressure and gas rates are correct. We also give the appliance a good clean which will help with the efficiency of the appliance. It is also a requirement for the warranty if it is still within its period.

Due to the lengthening period of boiler warranties and guarantees offered by boiler manufacturers these days, one of the requirements of the manufacturers is a recorded boiler service on an annual basis. Whilst modern boilers are very much more efficient and cheaper to run the technology does tend to require more maintenance. So the major benefit is maintaining the boiler warranty. Without the service record you may find that boiler warranty may be void at the time when you need it the most!.. Keep your boiler serviced and protect your warranty, it will also help to avoid unnecessary but expensive call out charges.

It's more a question of why not service your boiler. As one of the most expensive and valuable appliances in your home, it's imperative that your boiler runs efficiently and that any issues are picked up prior to them causing further damage. For a small annual fee, your boiler will get a thorough once over, have it's main parts checked, it's filter and condense cleaned, made sure it's burning correctly and identify any potential issues. It's really is a no brainer. Get your boiler serviced once a year, stay safe.

Imagine your boiler as a car. you always check the tires pressures and make sure the lubricants are all topped up and any worn out components such as brakes are replaced. The same goes for a boiler, if the expansion vessel needs re-pressurising it is normally done during a service, as is the condense trap cleaned out of contaminants that could block it up causing the flue condensation to build-up and cut out your boiler. Any seals that have worn out would be replaced and we normally look for signs of any problems or leaks. Just as a car has its emissions tested so do boilers, each year a gas safe engineer would check that the boiler is burning correctly or adjust it, not only is that making it safe but also saving you money on your gas bills. An added benefit of a yearly service is that your boilers warranty will be valid for how ever many years you were given. Its also compulsory for a yearly service to keep your warranty valid.

Beales Services answered the question "Why service a boiler? What are the benefits of boiler servicing?"

It is advisable to have your boiler serviced annually to ensure it is running efficiently and safely. The importance of regular boiler maintenance should never be underestimated; a faulty boiler can be incredibly dangerous. By ensuring your boiler is operating as efficiently as possible, it will help prevent fuel wastage which will save money on your energy bills, reducing your carbon footprint and your impact on the environment. During a boiler service, a GAS SAFE® registered engineer will check that the boiler still meets current standards and requirements and look for any corrosion, leaks or other issues. They will check the components to ensure everything is working correctly and the fuel is burning efficiently, checking Co2 and Co levels. The engineer will ensure there are no obstructions in the flue terminals and that the flue is safely fitted. These checks will confirm the safety of the boiler, reduce the chance of breakdown and offer peace of mind. An annual boiler service is usually a requirement in the terms and conditions of a boiler manufacturer’s extended guarantee and must be carried out by a GAS SAFE® registered engineer in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

By having your boiler serviced annually, you maintain any gaurantee/warrantee that came with the boiler. It also keeps the boiler working at it's optimum performance, Whilst the boiler is being serviced, the engineer should also be looking for any signs of leaks, or possible issue that may be arising, and then able to inform the customer, of the issues (if any) and possible remedies, costs etc. If the engineer does give you any advice, or recommends further works required, it is best to act upon their advice,
