Electric boilers run on electric only. They themselves produce no emissions in the home. But can be slower to heat a home from cold. Gas boilers produce Co2 emissions but less and less due to the ever improving designs made by manufacturers. They can heat the home slightly quicker than electric boilers from cold. Both require installing by a qualified engineer and a yearly service

Electric boilers are 100% efficient & do not produce any gases to the ozone such as co2 whereas gas boilers are now well over 90% efficient & do produce gases to the ozone. You may need a larger power supply for an electric boiler from the main electric panel to the boiler as with an electric shower whereas with a gas boiler you may just need a larger gas pipe running dependant on the output in both circumstances. They will both have safety devices, expansion vessels etc that will need checking regularly & dependant on the installation, they may also have filters that need servicing along with other components.

An electric boiler uses solely electricity rather than gas to heat the system water. In the same way a kettle heats water, electric boilers use elements to heat the system water. A gas boiler uses gas fuel to heat a heat exchanger within the boiler which is then pumped through the boiler to serve heating zones. Gas boilers require a flue to atmosphere and a recommended yearly safety inspection

An electric boiler runs on mains electricity and doesn't require a flue. There are fewer electric boiler manufacturers so there is less of a choice of products. Gas boilers run off mains natural gas or bottled gas and require a flue for venting exhaust gasses. There are many manufacturers of gas boilers so there is a wide choice of products to choose from.

An electric boiler runs on mains electricity whilst a gas boiler runs on mains gas or lpg. Gas boilers are by far the most popular in the UK and are cheaper to run than electric boilers. The advantage of an electric boiler is it doesn't need a flue which can be useful in dwellings such as flats.

A gas boiler uses natural gas supplied by the grid or LPG supplied in bottles or bulk tank. The burning of the gas within a heat exchanger heats up the water to be used for heating or hot water. An electric boiler does not use gas, generally cost more to run with less options available.

one is electric! the other is Gas! its that simple... Electric boilers or 100% efficient -apparently a gas boiler will produce noxious gases from its flue whilst an electric boiler will not emit any gases as it does not have a flue, great for apartments. electric boilers are wired up similar to a Electric shower you can even have an electric combi boiler , however it is more like a boiler and cylinder in one .

The difference is that a gas boiler runs from natural gas and an electric boiler runs from electric. An electric boiler is basically a big kettle in your airing cupboard! It cannot do instant hot water unlike a gas combi boiler can. Electric is more expensive to run and they take longer to heat up hot water.

A major difference is an Electric boiler does not require a flue, this can be especially useful in situations like flats where a gas boiler has been installed in the middle of the property and the flue has been hidden in a ceiling void, regulations now make replacement of this type of boiler very difficult with unsightly inspection hatches required and quite often a fall in the flue back to the boiler that cannot be achieved. an electric boiler is the perfect replacement choice and is not the massively expensive to run option people anticipate. We have fitted about 20 EHC comet type electric boilers and the customers appear to have been very happy with the running cost and reliability..Rob Nicholas (&Co)

There are different variations to how Electric boilers work but Generally Electric boilers use heating elements submerged in the water (similar to a kettle) to heat the water. Gas boilers usually heat the water indirectly with a burner (Gas Flame) and a heat exchanger. The flame is pointed on to the heat exchanger and the water heats up as the water passes through it.

The difference between a gas boiler and an electric boiler is the fuel used to run the boiler, in certain areas of the county where mains gas is not accessible you may look towards an electric boiler or another form of fuel for your heating appliance . in terms of the actual units them selfs they look very similar and do the same job, size wise also very similar. due to the high amount of electric needed to run an electric boiler you might need an upgrade of power from your supplier with an electrician to install extra items, larger cable for the unit to run safely
