Should I change door locks if I've lost my house keys?
It is strongly advised that you replace all external locks that you have lost keys, you may not have actually lost your keys they mate have been taken from you, putting the security of your property in danger. losing keys and not replacing the locks at the time will invalidate most home insurance policies.
How long does it take to change a lock?
changing a door lock on a UPVC door shouldn't take any longer than 10/15 minutes providing a key is available for the current lock, again a Yale type cylinder change on on a wooden door would normally take 10/15 minutes, a mortice lock change can take a while longer if adjustments are required this could be 30/40
How much does it cost for a locksmith to unlock your house?
Depending on what type of lock is fitted and time of day this service is required I'd estimate the cost to be between £65 - 120 for labour if a replacement lock is required a standard UPVC door cylinder would be between £15-25 wooden door lock prices can very dramatically from £9.50 to wash over £70 for a mortice type chubb lock
