Generally the idea of painting brick would be considered for further protection and to enhance the general look of the brick surface. I would recommend consulting a decorator for advice before attempting large exterior projects as they can be very labour intensive. Also once the suface has been painted there really is no going back.

It's a personal preference and it is perfectly fine so long as correct procedures are followed. There are a number of coatings that can be supplied which range from smooth to textured finishes. Some brick material will require some form of primer so this will be something to confirm with your choosen contractor as many just paint direct with emulsion only for it to fail a year or so later.

It can be , depending on what you prefer. It is very important that the correct paint is used and the work is carried out by a decorator as might create problems in the future . Painting over the bricks will require maintenance as the weather will play its part . As an advice make sure the bricks are clean and treated prior to painting .

Painting brickwork can really look good. The best way todo this is use the correct Masonry paint & it is so important to thin the first coat of masonry paint down before you apply it as this helps it absorb into the brick and will prevent it peeling or cracking in the future. The only problem with painting the brick is it will become a regular maintenance issue repainting every few years.

It can be as long as you use the correct paint. There's alot of makes out there like sandtex or weather shield. When painting bricks be sure to use a exterior masonry paint as this will allow the bricks to still breath. If you use the wrong paint like gloss, then that will seal the brick which in time will crack and split as the moisture is trying to escape. Using the correct product on any surface will have your home not only looking nice but will also last a very long time. Just ask your decorator and he or she will advise what's best.
