Not all lamps are dimmable and not all switches are compatible either, the best dimmer switches by far are the zano's and then varilight. And its worth noting as i've had a few customer purchase cheap dimmable lamps from places like amazon and even screwfix LAP, which are very poor quality and then constantly on the phone. Pay more buy once, pay peanuts expect to buy monthly!!

Yes they can be, but compatibility between dimmer and LED is very important, if not matched carefully you will get low end flicker and generally not a very nice dimming range. Be warned dimming LED can give the most competent electrician nightmares. but yes it is possible. ;-) A good dimmer and a good lamp and a good electrician = brighter or dimmer times which ever way you look at it!! A cheap dimmer and a cheap lamp and a cheap electrician is well.... = Free disco strobes and generally upset client.

Yes some LED light bulbs are dimmable. But that is not to say all of them are. Generally all LED lamps will (or at least should) have a symbol or text specifically stating that they are dimmable on their packaging. The other thing to consider is whether your existing dimmer switch is suitable to dim an LED load, LEDs are often required to be dimmed in a different manner to traditional filament lamps. Replacement LED compatible dimmer modules are available enabling you to keep the existing switch plates if required.

Yes you can get dimmable LED lamps I would always recommend buying a good quality namebrand when purchasing LED lamps as I have found in the past that the cheap ones from EBay Tend to break rather too quick The next thing to do is consider on how bright you require the light to be and whether or not you would like it cool white or warm white or daylight there are many choices now
