What are the most common signs of rodent / pest infestation?
The first indication that you may have Rodents in your house is usually a scratching or gnawing sound. If you are really unlucky you may see droppings in your living space. At the extreme you may see a Rodent or see where they have eaten some of your stored goods, packages or even fruit. What are the most common household bugs / pests found in the UK?
Household Pests are mainly seasonal, during winter we see more Rodents (Rats and Mice) in properties, both Commercial and Private. Rodents are an issue all year round but we see more in the Winter. Squirrels mate twice a year, Spring and Autumn; they generally move into a convenient loft for this activity and are very quiet and well behaved until the young ones start to find their feet. June to October is very much Wasp Season, this is our busiest period and when we have to be able to react quickly, nobody likes to be stung and in certain cases a sting can be fatal !
How do rats get inside the cavity walls?
If you have Rats in your walls they must have found a hole from; underneath the building, In the loft Or inside the wall of a semi detached or terrace property. The majority have come up through the drainage system, either through a break in the drains or a redundant pipe which has not been capped correctly. Some will find an existing hole, from an unused outlet that hasn’t been closed correctly. Others will dig in from the garden - these are the easiest to spot.
