What is a flueless gas fire?

Flueless gas fires are a newer design fire becoming more and more popular in homes. These fires are not intended to be used as a primary heat source, but to enhance visual aspects of a room and provide top up heat, such as in a lounge where there is no chimney/floor. A catalytic converter manufactured within the appliance is incorporated to clean the products of combustion (POC) that are discharged into the room. Designed to convert CO (carbon monoxide) into carbon dioxide (CO2). Many of these are installed with an oxygen depletion device or similar shut off, that turn the appliance off if the oxygen levels reduce by around 1%. A disadvantage of these fires is the need for permanent ventilation to outside and a build up of condensation due to POC being vented into the room.

In what order is a bathroom installed?

Disconnect existing suite and make safe by capping off. If you only have one toilet in the house, this will stay fitted until a suitable time to swap over to the new toilet. If currently tiled, remove tiles (sometimes back to brick). Unpack new suite (to check) and also measure for 1st fix plumbing / electrics. (Towel rads, wall hung basins etc, mirrors with lights etc). Prep walls ready for tiling or plastering, covering 1st fix. We generally overboard all walls, suitable to tile straight onto (floor to ceiling), and also plaster if only half tiled. If spots have been fitted in the ceiling and an old artex ceiling gone, overboard this also ready for plastering. Floors we lay cement based boards such as NoMorePly or insulation boards such as WEDI. Tile walls and floors and then fit out with new bathroom suite. Seal all wet areas and test the following day.
