What's the difference between a vented and unvented cylinder?
The other answer are great in explaining what the cylinder does. I would like to mention the importance of having the cylinder serviced regularly. Unlike a vent copper cylinder that needs no maintenance an unvented cylinder needs its control valves and expansion vessel checked regularly. Please ask whoever installs it if they are prepared and capable of carrying out an annual service. And check if they have an unvented qualification.
What are the benefits of installing an unvented cylinder?
Unvented give the opportunity to have good pressure showers without the noise and problems of a pump. If you have the space for a cylinder and decent incoming mains pressure then this is the way forward. But it is so important to check the incoming main for pressure and volume before making a decision. Also the ease of fitting the correct size safety discharge pipe. It’s important to use a qualified tradesman.
What is the best smart thermostat in 2020?
I like Nest for its look and functionality. Hive is also a good system with excellent add on extras such as light bulbs. I have fitted plenty of both and only had praise for either system. It’s a good idea to fit Worcester’s own smart thermostat with their boilers as they become part of the overall warranty.
