I am always sceptical of builders based upon previous experience but John Fisher (Westfield Builders) and his team were simply excellent. From estimate to job completion all went exactly as John had described and without doubt he would be the first tradesmen I will contact for any future work.

On completion of having our roofing work done by John Fisher, we had also decided to have our bathroom refurbished. The existing suite was over 15 years old and tired, we wanted something different and John, working with key things we would like built designed a bespoke bathroom to a unique design with a raised floor area around a new freestanding bath, maximising all the space in this small room, giving it a light, contemporary and spacious feel. The best money we have invested in our home, ever!

Our old large expanse of a flat felt roof was over 20 years old and in urgent need of replacement. John Fisher first gave a detailed report on not only replacement with suggestions of better ways in which to replace it in different longer lasting materials, he noted potential issues with other old areas of previous bad work with giving us the flexibility to make the choices on the work carried out. We decided to have all issues rectified as it is literary 'the roof over our heads'! John kept us up to date with all aspects of work, he was punctual, very tidy and quiet working, nice to have a stress free job done with minimal disruption to what is an large and awkward expanse involving different roof heights all meeting each other. Would highly recommend.

What is the best wood for exterior cladding?
There would be three main factors to consider when choosing exterior cladding. The appearance, it’s longevity and the budget. The appearance is obviously a personal factor as would be the cost but these could affect what you choose. As for longevity again it’s slightly dependent on if you want low maintenance you may choose something like cedar or a modern cement board which will look like wood or if you are happy to perhaps have to paint or oil the wood you may choose a kiln dried softwood. So in essence it depends largely on your individual project but I think if maintained properly all choices will give long life.
