Mark was helpful and knowledgeable from day 1. Our kitchen was originally unsafe, un-logical, dark and dingy. Mark helped us plan a new lighting system for the ceiling and under cupboards which has transformed our kitchen! It now has a safe extractor fan, lighting, kickboard heater, sockets etc. Mark was extremely thoughtful with closing our secure gates at all times around our dogs, always on time and gave us plenty of notice, was willing to share his thoughts and ideas to the best solutions - plus very clean and tidy. Would highly recommend.

What different types of light bulbs are there?
There are to many lamps (bulbs) to mention here but most lamps you use at home have one of the following connections. Bayonet, Edison screw or Es, small Edison screw or SES, downlighters are usually gu10 or if 12v mr16. This is the routine lamps we find in our homes these days but many more are used. The other thing to be aware of is the old tungsten and halogen lamps we have all known for decades are very hard to find these days so make sure you know the led equivalent which isn’t measured in Watts anymore but lumens. There will be a comparison chart usually on the packaging.
Does my house need rewiring? What are the signs your house needs rewiring?
There is a simple answer to this. Call out your local registered electrician to complete a “Electrical installation condition report” EICR or periodic as they are sometimes referred to. This will give you a good indication on the condition of the existing wiring. These should be carried out at intervals set by the person who installed the consumer unit or the last person to test it. They can be periods of up to 10 years but are sometime a lot less if the installation is older.
How much does it cost to rewire a 2-3 bedroom house?
The type and amount of accessories will dictate the price and the type of consumer unit. I.e. a split load consumer unit without a surge protection device would be the cheapest option but not always the best. A consumer unit with rcbo’s would be slightly more expensive but would give you less problems in the event of a fault. They work the same as an RCD but are individual to each circuit. In South Wales a good rule of thumb is £1000 per bedroom.
