I have over 20 years experience in Painting and Decorating, starting my apprenticeship in 1996 and I have been working for myself the past 5 years. I am a member of Dulux Select Decorators and The Painting and Decorating Association so can be assured my work has been viewed and vetted!
Interior and exterior mainly in the summer months(weather dependant!), domestic and small commercial properties, working from Tipton but serving Dudley, Sandwell and the West Midlands.

How much does it cost to paint a room?
Can be very varied, there isn't one straight answer for this really. I've done a box room for £200 and I've done a living room for £1100, all depends on materials to be used, amount of preparation required and of course the size of the room. On average looking £350 to £550 for a bedroom and £450 to £750 for a living room.
What is the best paint to use for skirting boards?
It's down to what finish you require. Satin, eggshell, matt or gloss and then whether it's a oil or water based finish. Gloss in water based doesn't have the same shine to oil based but it will stay whiter a lot longer. Satin and eggshell finishes are very similar in oil and water based. Personal choice I prefer a satin finish
What is the best paint brand in the UK for indoor painting?
You can ask 10 decorators this same question and I guarantee you'll have a different answer from all! I can only answer from personal choice. For emulsions I use Dulux and Armstead more than any other brand but Johnstones are as good. For woodwork my own choice is Benjamin Moore, who I think are in a league of their own when it comes to water based woodwork paint. All paints I use are trade paints, not retail that you buy from homebase or b&q, as these perform much better but thats another discussion!

I recommend D.Barrett Decorating purely for the care and pride he takes in his work. Quality of his workmanship is top class and is extremely trustworthy. He only uses the very best materials for the job and is always researching new products in order to keep moving forwards in delivering a top finish. I’ve noticed quotations are always very detailed and specific to the clients needs and usually they get sent prompt and efficiently so potential customers don’t have to wait around. Finally would like to say David is a great bloke and was a pleasure to work with and the kind of guy you want all the luck to fall to him.

Quality company!!!, Dave is very polite and friendly and he offers a great service very neat and tidy and leave a top tradmans standard of work , I’ve meet dave on some jobs we have been contracted to in the past and he’s painted and decorated Around 70% of my house to date and he’s also worked on several friends and families houses and they can’t get him back quick enough to do more around their house
