There could be a few different reasons, here’s a few.. - cylinder stat could be faulty - the temperature maybe set too low on boiler - blocked heat exchanger in the boiler (the boiler will come on and shut off frequently which causes the water to run hot, cold, hot, cold constantly - the motorised valve may be faulty - you may have a faulty immersion heater, or maybe only the booster immersion is working which only heats a the top part of the cylinder.

Do you have a hot water cylinder in a separate cupboard or combi boiler. If you have a hot water cylinder they have a cylinder thermostat fitted to the upside of your cylinder about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the cylinder. Check the temperature setting on the thermostat, in case it has accidentally been lowered. Also check the At the thermostat is firmly connected to the side of the cylinder, Check water temperature setting on boiler, if these are all okay it may be beneficial to get a qualified plumber to make further investigations.

If you have a conventional boiler with a storage tank, you may have a faulty motorized valve. Usually located near the storage tank.It has a mechanical slide switch, try sliding it manually, Make sure the timer is on continuous hot water. If you can establish the boiler has fired up,and hot water is being pumped to the tank, feeling the pipe to the tank, which heats up quickly, the motorized valve can be replaced. Other potential causes, air lock, faulty tank stat.blocked pipe, faulty programmer. faulty wiring.

Depending on the type of system you have, for combination boilers it may be a blocked plate heat exchanger due to limescale build up or sludge within the Heating side, the flow rate can be checked on the incoming mains to see if your boiler can cope with the temperature rise. For open vented systems a faulty cylinder stat could be the problem, again it could be due to sludge in the within the cylinder coil and lacking heat transfer to heat your hot water.

There is a number of issues that can affect the hot water temperature, depending on the type of system. If it is a open vented system it could be a fault with the cylinder stat, or it could be as simple as just having turn turn the temperature up For a combi boiler it could be a blocked plate heat exchanger.

This could be caused by quite a few things. First off what type of system do you have, is it stored hot water of a combination boiler? For a combi boiler there are a few common problems.. Does your boiler have a fault code can Ming up when you try to run the hot water? Is the water getting hot then going cold - the reason maybe a blocked plate to plate heat exchanger.. Is the boiler sized properly for your incoming water flow rate, maybe that your flow Rae is too great. In colder weather you will see a drop in combination boiler water temperature as the incoming water temperature will drop significantly. For a cylinder there are a few causes also. Is your cylinder stat set properly? Is your cylinder big enough to cope with your demand, do your have hot water but are running out? Are you calling for hot water on your programmer and it’s not getting hot, it maybe you have a problem with a 2 port or 3 port valve.. Also best to get a professional to check and if you think your boiler is at fault make sure it’s a gas safe registered engineer.

This could be a number of reasons. If it's a combi boiler it could be a blocked manifold or plate heat exchanger, a faulty diverter valve. Or if you have a modern mixer tap. The mains cold could divert back into to hot if a double check valve has not been fitted. Lastly your system could be too small for the usage it receives. Hard to advise without being able to look.

A common cause of this back flow from the cold water connection in a combination tap/shower valve. the pressure in the cold water pushed into the hot water system cooling it down. fitting a NRV onto the hot water feeds at these taps and valves eliminates this. Thermostats could have failed at the boiler or the element is very scaled. Sometimes it is as simple as too many people using the hot water that has been stored and the cylinder hasn't had time to reheat it enough. Checking if you have a TMV2 valve fitted in your property will let you know if your water temperature has been restricted.

It could be that your hot water cylinder is not getting enough time to recover, I.e theres multiple people taking showers/baths after each over. Or it could be down to faulty components on the system not working correctly. It's worth noting that on new build property's sometimes the whole hot water supply is piped via TMV3 which restricts the water temperature down to between 39° and 43°.
