There are the usual planning rules with extensions to property depending on size and how they are constructed, its always best to check with your local councils and some of these differ from others but generally width of building and 3meters away from building normally passes through permitted development and anything larger full regs are required as these are normally more Structual and require set key stages checked by your local authorities
