An “EA” Fault Code on a Worcester Boiler can mean several things. “EA” fault codes or “EA” error codes according to Worcester Bosch boiler manual: “Indicates that the flame hasn't been detected”. In our experience we have found multiple reasons for this, and the most common being a blocked or frozen Condense pipe, or no gas supply found during ignition, amongst others. There are certain things a home owner can check, to help the Heating engineer narrow down his search. Has the gas meter run out of gas? Has the gas been turned off? Has there been any freezing conditions that could potentially cause the Condense pipe to freeze up? Under no circumstances do Air Plumbing & Heating Ltd recommend that anyone who isn’t Gas Safe Registered attempt to reset their Boiler during a fault code. It is imperative that you call out someone who is Gas Safe Registered, and is confident on working with Worcester Boilers. Air Plumbing & Heating Ltd have been to multiple Manufacturers Training courses in order to know how to safely work on, and correctly diagnose boiler faults. Please call 07775330132 for any help or advice on boiler faults.

The EA fault code could be a number of things. 1) The boiler will lock out after 4 ignition attempts is made and no flame has been detected. 2) An established flame has gone out. This could be as a result of moisture in the sump that could be caused by a blocked sump/condensate trap or a strong wind into the flue. 3) Gas valve disconnected. 4) Flame not established during the first 4 seconds of the ignition period.

Ignition lockout out caused by the boiler not correctly lighting . Common causes are faulty gas valves . Faulty ignition probes , gas meter turned off or no gas into the property supply interruption . Swarf blocking the gas inlet pipes . Lack of serviceing of the boiler . Your first step should be to contact a gas. Safe company to carry out servicing and repair.

EA relates to a condense or flue issue. The most common for EA is No gas, or blocked / frozen condensate. It also relates to the electrodes or bearing plate issue. First thing to check is the condensate. Does it fall to the drain and is it clear ie no frozen. Next is working pressure. Does this drop when the boiler tries to fire? If not it could be a fan or gas valve issue. Is the EA fault intermittent. If so it could be the electrodes located on the front of the heat exchanger or the bearing plate located above the fan (on a CDi classic model)

Worcester Bosch EA fault code covers more than one possible fault within the boiler, below is a list of the potential faults that could of happened Failure of four ignition attempts. The boiler waits 30 seconds before another attempt is made An established flame has been extinguished. This could be caused by: moisture in the sump, due to a blocked sump/condensate trap, a strong wind into the flue Gas valve coil disconnected Flame not established during the first 4 seconds ignition period There is an error where the pump is not detecting water – check pressure gauge and repressurise to 1 bar With any fault with a Gas fired boiler please contact a Gas Safe Registered Engineer to carry out the repair on your appliance.
