Barker Plumbing And Heating answered the question "What is the Vaillant boiler F.28 fault / error code?"

Hi there are several causes that could cause f.28 to appear: 1.gas supply issue; for example prepay meter running out of credit will cause this simply topping up and pressing reset button (flame with a cross through it) 2.gas valve; could not be operating correctly so for safety the boiler will stop trying to light (lock out) 3.ignition system electrodes could need cleaning or replacing this is why it's important to get your boiler services annually 4.electronics probably worse case financially the main computer (PCB) could be having communication issues with other components

A vaillant boiler with an error code F.28 related to a failure in the ignition sequence, this could include faulty parts such as gas valve spark electrodes or even a blocked condense trap of pipework. BoilerOne recommend you consult a gas safe registered engineer to diagnose the problem.

Hi Martin here from Chalmers Gas & Heating. F28 on a Valliant is failed ignition. Make sure you have gas in your property, try lighting another appliance like a cooker or hob. If no gas is present call 0800111999 and report this issue as there is a problem with the supply or a faulty regulator. If gas is present call a gas safe registered business like ourselves to come and diagnose the issue. It can be the electrodes, gas valve or even a frozen or blocked condensate, or syphon trap needing cleaned

PPH South ltd answered the question "What is the Vaillant boiler F.28 fault / error code?"

PPH South are Vaillant advance plus accredited installers. Vaillant fault code f.28 is failure to ignite. This can be due to the gas valves or ignition controls. It can also be due to the condense being frozen and or blocked. We would advise getting a gas safe registered engineer to check the installation to ensure safe operation.
