The error code F01 for a vaillant boiler is a fault on the return sensor. This can be either the sensor itself, or a fault with the wiring. This can be checked with electrical tester as sometime open circuit or a diminished reading. Check the wiring to this also as I've found cables being pinched and damaged or not connected to the sensor properly causing issues.

A vaillant boiler with an error code F.01 relates to a faulty thermistor on the heating return, we would test the thermistor itself and test the cables from the pcb also looking for any damaged cables or loose connections. BoilerOne recommend you consult a gas safe registered engineer to diagnose the problem.

Hi I’m Greg from Landlord & Homeowner Gas Services. The F.01 fault code on a Vaillant boiler is likely due to an open circuit in the return sensor. The likely causes are the following: NTC defective NTC cable defective Defective plug connection on NTC Defective plug connection on electronics. Thanks Greg Landlord & Homeowner Gas Services
