Personally were big fans of system boilers here at LP Plumbing and Heating Ltd. Inside they are not to dissimilar to a combi boiler bar a couple of things. They go hand in hand with indirect pressurised cylinders and in terms of installation they make it slightly simpler due to the pump being located inside the boiler, plus they have an internal expansion vessel and pressure reducing valve for extra safety. You generally get a decent manufacturer warranty with a system boiler because as I mentioned before they are not to dissimilar to combi boilers in their build make up. We have fitted a lot of ideal vogue max system boilers that come with a 12 year manafacture parts and labour warranty these also lend themselves well with new smart controls in terms of ease of installation. If I were to have a new unvented pressurised heating and hot system installed in my house I would definitely couple it with a system boiler over a conventional heat only boiler. If you live in or around the Maidstone or Medway area and have any questions regarding system boilers or are just not sure what will suit your home and needs best by all means please get in touch with us here at LP Plumbing and Heating and we will be happy to help.

A system boiler is more job specific where it will heat you radiators directly and heat stored water in a cylinder. The system boiler includes a pump and expansion vessel and relief valves removing the requirement for loft tanks expansion, they work on a sealed system so require a filling loop for introducing the correct pressure. BoilerOne recommend you ask a gas safe registered engineer to advise on the best boiler for you.

A system boiler is different to a combination or heat only boiler. They incorporate an expansion vessel which removes the need for the header tank in the loft, and makes the heating system pressured rather than low pressure tank fed. It also contains a pump and safety valves for the heating system. They are used in conjunction with a hot water cylinder (usually a megaflow or similar) for Larger hot water demands.

A system boiler requires a cylinder for storing hot water, all the components are built into the boiler itself and therefore does not require additional components to heat up the water. Also there is no need for a tank in the loft which is great if loft space is at a premium. The boiler works via a flow and return which directly heats up your central heating radiators, when the hot water needs heating the flow is redirected via the cylinder to heat up the water. The benefit to this system is that you can have more than 1 bathroom/shower and also use multiple hot water taps at the same time.
