The two most common render types are; 1. Sand and cement render - this drys a grey colour (this will vary geographically, because sand from different areas varies in colour) which will readily take an exterior paint finish in a wide variety of colours, exterior paints come in a choice of finishes, either smooth or textured. 2. Through colour render - this comes in a single bag that is simply mixed with a specified quantity of water. The pigment is included in the powder thus making it a finished coating, it will never need painting and again you have the choice of textured or smooth.
