There are a variety of door locks which are normally based on the material of your door. For instance if you have a uPVC door you will most likely have a Euro Cylinder fitted while if you have a Wooden Door although you can have the same style cylinder it may have a Night Latch and a Mortice Lock fitted. Now with the new composite style doors you can have the best of both worlds when choosing what type of locks you'd like fitted when ordering a door. There are a wide range of locks when it comes to doors but the easiest way to let a locksmith know if you're unsure is what material it is as well as how you lock and unlock your door. Then we can quote accordingly on what we believe the part to be, based on the intel you have given us.

Most common door locks are the Euro Cylinder Lock for UPVC and Composite Doors, these can also be found on Patio Doors, Garage Doors and even Caravans, depending on the type of mechanism to be operated. Most New Build properties, housing association properties and council properties will have these locks. Wooden or Timber Doors are mainly fitted with a Mortice Lock. There is also a Mortice Sash Lock which is the same but with a latch above the bolt which is operated using a door handle. Rim Cylinder Locks are commonly known as the Top Lock or Yale Lock and operate a Night Latch on the inside of the door.

Hi, there are many types of lock, depending on what your locking. The most common is the euro lock found on upvc or composite doors, these work with the multi point locking system. On wooden doors there are the good old fashioned mortice or night latch type, commonly referred to as a Yale lock. There is also the keyless entry locks, works with a fob or a phone app. Garage door locks are sometimes a euro or a wafer lock with a T-bar handle. Hope this is helpful regards Darren ADP locksmith

There are many! Most common are the euro profile cylinders fitted to a upvc door or composite door which will also have a multipoint lock function. Then there are the wooden doors which would have a mortice dead lock or sash lock fitted (many variants) could possibly have a night latch also known as the yale type locks fitted. Then external buildings such as garages and sheds would have T-bar handle locks, bolts and padlocks.

There are many types available. Morticed locks, rim locks, euro/oval profile cylinder locks, multi-point locking mechanisms. It depends on what type of door or window you need to lock. If you are unsure which type of lock you need then speaking to a trusted local Locksmith is a good idea.

There are too many different type of locks to list here however the most common ones are Euro and oval cylinders in uPvc and composite doors, nightlatches (often referred to as Yale locks) and mortice locks on timber doors. Euro cylinders are available as keyed both sides of the door and keyed one side with a thumbturn on the inside for easy exit, (thumbturn cylinders are typically a fire requirement for single access properties where keyless egress is a requirement.) Mortice locks are available as deadlock (just a bolt thrown out on key turn) and sashlock (has a latch and handle as well as a deadbolt).
