The short term disadvantage of installing a system boiler is the cost of the installation. Due to requiring a new unvented hot water cylinder being required the material costs will be hire. Also the unvented hot water cylinder will require servicing as well as the boiler. Space for the boiler and unvented cylinder is also a factor to be considered. I would always recommend fitting any unvented hot water cylinder on the ground floor just in case the cylinder or its safety features developed a major leak.

Disadvantages of a system boilers would be that they must be fitted with a cylinder to store water hot water and are more job specific, unlike s combi where you could have instant hot water the system boiler is more conventional and would heat up a stored tank. BoilerOne recommend you ask a gas safe registered engineer to advise on the best boiler for you.

The disadvantages of a system boiler are that you do not get instantaneous hot water at the tap like a combination boiler. A SYSTEM boiler needs to heat a separate hot water cylinder that holds anything from 90ltrs to 350 ltrs for a large house or requiments. It can take 60 to 90 min to heat the cylinder from cold. But if you have large hot water requirements then a system boiler would be better than a combi. For small properties like 2 to 3 bed flat/homes with electric shower or 1 mixer shower then a. Combi may be suitable but in the main for larger homes a system boiler is a better option.
