Our personal recommendation for a kitchen would be faux wood Venetian- these let plenty of light in when open and as they are made from PVC won’t rust or warp due to condensation We also do PVC rollers or verticals if Venetians aren’t to your taste. If your window is within the shower area as is sometimes the case we would suggest the pvc roller.
