A high quality timber window made from Accoya or hardwood that is well maintained would last decades. you have the option of painting or staining the windows and if you changed your mind it would be a simple case of sanding the window back and starting again to gain the finish you wanted and make them look like new. However you do have to keep up the maintenance such as painting/treating every 2-3 years.
