The most common cause of this scenario is a faulty diverter valve/motor. The diverter valve switches over from heating the house to heating your tap water. A faulty flow switch which detects water flowing when a tap is opened can cause this fault too. A gas safe engineer will be required to check this for you and repair it.

If your central heating is working but you have no hot water, the first common fault here would be the motorised valve, this may be jammed in heating only mode and not switching to the hot water side, for a combi boiler the reason could be a faulty flow switch in the hot water demand. BoilerOne recommend you consult a gas safe registered engineer to diagnose the problem.
