South Yorkshire Heating answered the question "Is a boiler service a legal requirement?"

No not a legal requirement, but if boiler is under warranty of some insurance policy then these require it to be done for it to continue valid. Also having it done could save you having more costly repairs by diagnosing them sooner. Only thing is to make sure that you get the service done by a reputable person, that you know will carry it out properly, otherwise could be a waste of money.

It is not a legal requirement to get an annual boiler service. But if the boiler is under manufacturers warranty and you do not get it serviced each year they will void the warranty. Regardless if it’s not a legal requirement. But it’s good practice to have it done and gives you peace of mind

it is not a legal requirement to get a boiler serviced unless it is in a tenants property. however it is good practice to have it serviced to keep an eye on any possibility for breakdowns. however it is highly recommended that a boiler is serviced every 12 months, this will also keep the boiler within any warranty cover.

It is not a legal requirement to have a gas boiler serviced although it is highly recommended. Boiler manufacturers will void their warranty/guarantee if a boiler does not get an annual service for the length of the warranty/guarantee. The annual service can be carried out by any competent gas safe engineer it does not need to be carried out by the manufacturers agents. Rules are slightly different for landlords as if the appliance has not been looked after then the landlord can be held liable no matter the age of the appliance. We always recommend having your appliances serviced annually to ensure they are running safely and as efficiently as they can.

Servicing your boiler is not a legal requirement but all gas appliances are recommended to have a yearly inspection/service. The legal requirement for landlords is to have a safety certificate for their gas appliances. BoilerOne recommend you instruct a gas safe registered engineer to service your boiler.

No it isn’t but to continue you the manufactures warranty it is required you keep up servicing every year. £70 (average) to keep up the warranty of your boiler is very little to keep a piece of mind, where every component in the boiler is looked after by the manufacture (during warranty)

It is not a legal requirement to get your boiler serviced. But considering it's importance within your household, wouldn't you want to ensure yours is running safely and efficiently? An annual service is not too much money (averages £70) and takes just one hour. Call a Gas Safe qualified engineer to do your service.

No, a boiler service is not a legal requirement, but It is recommended to have your boiler serviced regularly to check the working condition and clean out integral parts of the boiler. This can prolong the life of the boiler and check for a safe, good working condition. You may also require a boiler service if it has a manufactures guarantee, as this will only be upheld if your boiler has been serviced annually since installation. A Landlords Gas safety check (also known as a CP12) is a legal requirement for Landlords to have carried out in their properties with gas appliances. This is carried out by a Gas Safe Registered engineer. This checks the working condition of the gas appliances and general gas pipework/meter installations for safe operation. It is the landlords responsibility to maintain safe gas appliances in their rental properties.

Beales Services answered the question "Is a boiler service a legal requirement?"

No, a boiler service is not a legal requirement but an annual Landlord gas safety check is, for any property that is partly or fully tenanted. A gas safety check must be carried out by a GAS SAFE registered engineer, who will issue a CP12 certificate which will document the outcomes of the checks and tests required for each gas appliance at the property. Although a boiler service is not a legal requirement it is advisable to have your boiler serviced once a year to ensure it is running efficiently and safely. A faulty boiler can be incredibly dangerous. An annual boiler service is usually a requirement in the terms and conditions of a boiler manufacturer’s extended guarantee and must be carried out by a GAS SAFE registered engineer in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

If you are a landlord and you rent a property, it is a legal requirement for the boiler in that property to be ‘checked’ every year by a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer. Ideally it should be serviced. They legally need to issue you a LGSC (Landlord Gas Safety Certificate ) also known as a CP12, to make sure all gas appliances in the property are safe. If you are a homeowner, having your boiler serviced is not a legal requirement, however, we do advise that any boiler should have an annual service carried out by a qualified Gas Safe engineer. This ensures that your boiler is operating as safely and efficiently as it should be, and that any potential faults can be found early on to save costly repair bills down the line. Most new boilers have a warranty on them but many state that this warranty is only valid if an annual boiler service is carried out.
