To remove a blockage for the shower you can buy a drain unblocking device such as a plastic drain snake, remove the drain cover/grill in the shower and move the snake backwards and forward down the pipework, the blockages normally consist mainly of hair, which is caught on the snake when used. You may also try gently plunging the drain.

To unblock a shower drain with standing water, firstly and most commonly the shower waste trap will be at fault. The trap can be cleaned by removing the chrome grill cover, and normally lifting the collector trap out for cleaning, then replace in reverse order. BoilerOne recommend you consult the manufacturers instructions or a verified plumber to advise on your options.

There could be a couple of reasons for hot water to not flow from a tap or outlet . Firstly you need to ascertain whether this is an isolated problem of if you have lost hot flow form all outlets . The most common problem is down to the failing of the taps mechanism ether ceramic disc or standard tap washer type . Other reasons could be an airlock . If gravity fed and all taps have no hot water it could be related to the header tank or even the cylinder itself . My advice is to call a trades professional to diagnose the problem . this small investment in diagnosing the issue may prove to be a saving in the long run

This can often be rectified by simply following the manufacturers cleaning instruction. Shower wastes have a removable cover over the waste on the tray. Remove this and there is normally a removable. Container that is there to collect hair and other potential items that can build up and cause a blockage. Simply remove and clean any hair or debris, on most occasions this clears the blockage and returns the shower drain to full service. It is better to check this when you notice that the shower is starting to drain slowly.

Firstly, identify, what type of waste system your shower has. Its becoming more common for wastes to be connected to pumps, ie whale etc. This is easily checked by asking the following question, "Does my waste make a loud sucking noise, when in use?". If it does, we recommend you contact a professional, as it'll more than likely, be the valves faulty in the pump. If not then, check the outlet, make sure nothing is blocking it, usually, hair is the main culprit. The majority of shower wastes allow for blockages utilising a capture cup. This is usually accessible by removing the cover. The cover sits in the waste and should be easily removed by picking out. No tools, twisting or excessive force is needed at this point. Once exposed, the capture cup can be seen, remove this & empty the contents. Refix the waste back together and try a simple plunge. Just place the plunger over the outlet of the shower tray and move up & down rhythmically. Do this for approximately, 15 - 20 seconds. Then test. if still not moving, reattempt plunging.

The first thing to do if your shower waste is blocked is remove the cover and have a look. A very common cause is hair causing a block in the trap. remove this and see if the water flows away. This hair can be a bit further into the trap where you cannot access. Try plunging it as this can dislodge any blockage in pipework. If this fails then a plumber who has a wet/dry vac can normally sort this out very quickly or will have the experience and knowledge to clear the blockage if it is further down the waste system.

If your shower waste is backing up, first off remove the top cover and inspect the trap. Most traps have a little catch tray that grabs debris and hair, remove that and see if this helps the flow. If you still have excess standing water you could try plunging the drain. If your problems persist I'd recommend you call a plumber who can inspect your drains and find a solution to your problem.

If you find the shower tray full of water, the first thing to try would be a rubber plunger. You would need to remove the cover of the shower waste (if there is one) and work the plunger vigorously and this should dislodge any sludge/blockages. If that fails then you may have to call in an expert who may have to inspect drainage pipework.
