Castle Heights Building & Maintenance answered the question "How long does screed take to dry?"

There are several factors governing drying times of screed. Depth/thickness of the screed will affect drying time, the thinner the screed, the faster it will dry. Ambient temperature of the space that has been screeded, the warmer the temperature, the faster it will dry. Chemical retarders or accelerators will affect drying times. Screed capable of supporting light foot traffic, in most situations will normally be achieved 12-24 hrs after it has been laid. Screed capable of being drilled and fixed to is achieved in 7 to 10 days. It is good practice (where practical) to allow as much time as possible before covering a screed floor, especially if you intend to lock in moisture within the screed by covering with non breathable coverings like tiling, vinyl flooring and laminate flooring.
