Landlords are responsible for ensuring the property is clean and ready to move into. This forms the basis of the tenancy agreement and any necessary cleaning, interior or exterior, should have been completed by the previous tenant as per their agreement or in worst case by the landlord themselves before the new arrival.

As above, its all down to your tenancy agreement. what isnt common knowledge is the fact that most landlords and letting agents try to dictate that if you have had pets, you have to have flea treatment. this is not the case. if there are NO SIGNS of fleas there is no obligation for you to employ someone to treat them, and they cannot leagally force you to. furthermore any company treating without signs of fleas can actually be breaking the law. insecticide is a very harmful product and has regulated use.

Again subject to your tenancy agreement , the norm is that the property will be clean and ready for you to move into and that’s the condition the landlord will require his property to be handed back to him. The fact you signed and accepted the condition when you took on the tenancy means that the expense to return it to that condition will be yours
