So just before Christmas we had booked our boilers in for a service. Unfortunately the boiler had to be decommissioned. However, the service engineer Jack, thoroughly explained the reasoning and the regulations. Jack ensured that the fires still worked and that we had some warmth over the cold spell. By the end of the day we had received a quote for a new boiler. Quote accepted, Jack and Sean, arrived Monday morning. They navigated the old central heating pipework and made sure to only turn the water off at the last possible minute leaving us with warm water via immersion heater at all times. The quality of work carried out is incredibly neat and tidy. Both Jack and Sean are very polite and take great pride in their work and are a credit to J. Wheatley.

Once again excellent work from Jack at J Wheatley's. He was efficient, friendly, polite and very very tidy, like he hadn't been there. He explained everything that he would need to do to sort the leak and any parts that would be needed. The ladies in the office & John were also helpful from the initial email we sent & subsequent calls regarding the leak.

We had a replacement boiler fitted which wasn't straight forward as it was being moved from the loft into a cupboard in the hall way. Jack started the job on the Tuesday and finished late on the Friday. We fully expected to be without heat and hot water for the whole time and had borrowed some heaters. Jack however had different ideas and for the first 3 days he left the old boiler in place and before he left for the day he made sure we had heating and hot water. This no doubt made his job more difficult but his consideration for our comfort was admirable. I hope that the company know what a asset they have in Jack.

Our central heating stopped working, Jack came and diagnosed the fault he is highly efficient and ensured that while waiting for the replacement part to come still had hot water. He has a high work ethic and goes about his role with high efficiency wouldn't hesitate to contact the company and ask for Jack to attend to any problem

How to fix a leaking / dripping tap?
All different taps are fixed in all different ways and it totally depends on which tap you have. Here at J.Wheatley Gas, Plumbing and Heating Ltd. all our plumbers carry multiple materials, spare parts and new taps on their vans so we are ready for every possibility whilst at your property.
How to prevent frozen pipes?
The easiest way to prevent frozen pipes, is to locate them within your property and if they have to be fitted under the floors or in areas which may be subject to cold - there should always be lagged with a good quality lagging to prevent pipe to freeze in the colder months. However, with winter seeming to be just around the corner, there's a few things you can do yourself to stop your pipes freezing, you can wrap the pipes yourself outside with lagging. If your lucky enough to be going on holiday over the winter period - you may want to leave your central heating on to prevent you getting that troublesome phone call of a bust pipe and finally, if you didn't want the expense of leaving your heating on - you could always drain down your system completely.
What are the benefits of powerflushing?
Powerflushing is the process that most heating engineers use to clean central heating systems. A powerflush will increase the efficiency of your central heating system by allowing heat to radiate correctly and removing the strain from within your pump. Powerflushing will also increase the life span of your boiler. Here at J.Wheatley Gas, Plumbing and Heating Ltd. we have our own powerflushing machine.
