After working in an industrial environment for over 15yrs I decided to go into domestic work after a few years working for other people I decided to start on my own and Fitzgerald Electrical & Plumbing was born!
It was a slow start at first picking up customers and getting my name about but it's going steady now and the work is coming in and customers are passing on my name to friends and relatives and my name is spreading!

What is the best smart thermostat in 2020?
I’ve fitted quite a few different smart thermostats Hive, Nest, Wave and so on… I think it depends on the customer needs and ability to use it, it’s no good fitting a smart thermostat loaded with features if the end user is going to just turn heating on and off for an hour or two a day! You have to assess your customer then offer the best advice you can. Installing wise I do like the Hive for easy installation and set up and it’s user friendly but there are others that are easy to install and set up that are much cheaper as the market for smart controls is growing rapidly!
What is the best combi boiler?
There are a lot of boilers on the market now and the once leading brand has been caught up and out done in some cases by others, a combi boiler depends on your needs and not all will exactly suit, our go to boiler at the moment is the Baxi 800, price wise they are decent value, installing wise it’s great, filter and filling kit usually supplied in the box depending on where purchased from, and 10yr warranty, aftercare is pretty good not had any customers complain as yet!
What are the benefits of installing an unvented cylinder?
There are a few advantages of an unvented cylinder, firstly hot water at almost mains pressure a lot better than a gravity fed system, draw off for thermostatic showers, no issues with mixer taps causing air locks, the hot water cylinder could be linked to solar to heat the stored water.
