How much does it cost to install an electric car charging station at home?
The price of an EVCharger is highly variable depending on the specification and features you require. Typically you will be looking at prices starting from around £600 as a basic installation. If you require a better specification of charger or require enabling works of your existing electrical installation to safely support an EVCharger this will reflect in a higher installation cost. A grant can be obtained from OLEV by the installer, be aware the value of this has been reduced from £500 to £350 and requires a smart charger to obtain and share data back to OLEV. Smart chargers have a higher material cost so will likely cost more even after any grant discount is applied, however you will get a far superior and more advanced charger offering greater efficiencies, functionality and increased running cost savings.
How often should a house be rewired?
There is no hard and fast rule for how frequent a domestic dwelling will require requiring. As a broad guide it can be anything from every 5-50 years and beyond. The factors that will influence this will include workmanship and quality at time of installation, type of use, frequency of maintenance and testing and number of additions made to this system and by whom.
What is the average cost to rewire a house?
A typical 2 up 2 down domestic dwelling rewire will start around £3000 for a basic specification installation to current British Standards, from there additions such as USB sockets, dimmable LED downlighting, smart controls, are added dependant on the customers personal specific requirements.
