Why is my radiator cold?
your radiator could be cold for a number of reasons. A common cause is the thermo static valve is stuck in the closed position. it could be blocked with debris in the system. it could need bleeding. or perhaps the radiators could need balancing. this is where the flow to each one is set to ensure even flow rate through all of the radiators on the system.
How to bleed a radiator?
first you need to find the bleed point. this is a small square ended screw. on new radiators it can be found at one end at the top of the radiator. older ones can be at the top on the rear of the panels. next you need a bleed key and some kitchen roll. locate the key on the screw and quarter turn anti clockwise holding the kitchen roll underneath to catch any water. once water comes out then the radiator is full and bled. depending on the type of heating system you may need to top up the pressure. it's worth while knowing that you can do this prior to bleeding the radiators, else the boiler could go into a low pressure fault mode. If in doubt find a local expert trades heating engineer.
What is the best combi boiler?
The answer to this will always depend upon the size of property and the end users requirements, however for the past 7 years I have been installing Vaillant eco tec pro range. I find them to be reliable robust boilers. They come with a good manufacturer's warranty. Vaillant also have a reliable after care team.
