Does rewiring a house add value?
It will certainly add value to your house. It will give future buyers piece of mind that all electrics are okay. A rewire is a major project but definitely worth doing. At least you know it will be 25+ years before you need to do it again. You can make a house look beautiful with new bathroom, kitchen, painted walls etc but if your electrics are unsafe then you could end up doing it all again.
Does my house need rewiring? What are the signs your house needs rewiring?
This depends on a lot of factors but the main signs that it may need rewired will be, # -old rewireable fused boards. -No earth at lights and switches - Evidence of work been carried out by DIY person The only thing that can truly tell you if your flat needs rewired or not is a EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) by a qualified Electrician. This will give you a full report telling you if any defects and recommendations.
How do outside light sensors work?
The 2 most common sensors are PIR (Passive Infra red) and Photocell. PIR sensors are used when you want the light to come on when it detects movement. Most of them come with 3 settings, enabling you to adjust the time it stays on, the sensitivity of the sensor and Lux level. A photocell is used when you want the light to go on and off at dusk and dawn. This will allow the light to stay off during the day and go on automatically when its dark.
